About 275 teachers have recieved the certification, but it is not recognized by the Schools. The North American Environmental Education Association is considering a National Certification. If you want to be a Middle School teacher, I would reconsider an Environmental Masters program, it will really do you no good. I would suggest a focus on Curriculum and Instruction Specialist, which could put you in a position where you could make an impact and be an agent of change.

I am currently working on my Ed. D. and am doing research on the effectiveness of environmental educator certification of teachers on their performance.
